Student Enrollment Lottery Procedure:

YouthBuild McLean County Charter School will enroll students into the Charter School at the beginning of each term (Fall, Spring and Summer). If there are more eligible applicants for enrollment than there are spaces available at the Charter School, applicants shall be selected by lottery.

The lottery is administered only in the event the number of applicants exceeds the number of slots available at the Charter School (100 students).

When a lottery process is engaged, notification of the scheduled lottery will go to the Unit 5 School district. The lottery will be facilitated at YouthBuild McLean County with the school directors, board president and a designated Unit 5 representative in attendance to certify the lottery process. The lottery process will be videotaped with a date and time stamp and maintained on official record. A video copy of the lottery process will be sent to Unit 5 for reference.

Applicants will be placed in the lottery system by order of date of the enrollment application and certified by YouthBuild McLean County Charter School. Students will not be sorted or placed on the lottery list on any basis other than the date the certified date of the enrollment application to prevent bias or discrimination. Special priority will be given to those students whose sibling attended the school and/is or was in good standing at the time of enrollment at the Charter School.
